Bruny get behind Precinct Plan push

Fix Ferry Road campaigners Picton Hay, Tony Parsey and yours truly travelled to Bruny Island today at the invitation of the Bruny Island Community Association.

Around 40 islanders attended the meeting and visitors included Liberal candidate from Franklin, Jillian Law and Councillors David Grace and Roger McGinniss.

Picton gave a short status report on the draft Precinct Plan. The drawings which were on display at Saturday’s “information session” were also placed on display for discussion. I spoke about the on-line survey and encouraged the Bruny community to respond.

The response from the meeting was very positive. The Bruny Island community is very supportive of the Fix Ferry Road campaign and this web site is apparently the number one source of information for the Bruny Islanders on all things Ferry Road related.

These Bruny folk know how to run a meeting – coffee and muffins on arrival and a great sausage sizzle to conclude. The bit in the middle followed a well-organised agenda and Acting President Keith Bill proved the consummate chairperson. All in all not a bad way to spend a sunny Sunday morning.

I will continue to support the Ferry Road residents in their endeavours to FIX FERRY ROAD. I will urge the plp to assist in any way that they can.

Ifully support the upgrade of Ferry Road and the relocating the sewerage plant as I moved a motion at council for council to look at the future of Kettering for the next decade.

    Regards, David
