You should send this to the Gruen Transfer. Even they would have trouble turning this into an ad for Tourism Tasmania!

Having resided at the end of Ferry Road for the past 26 years, we have seen little or no improvement in the appalling and dangerous condition of Ferry Road. Countless times we have been unable to drive to our own home without travelling considerable distance on the wrong side of the road, or alternatively wait for over an hour in a queue for a Ferry we don’t want to catch. Over the years I have been reluctant to go for a walk pushing my babies in a pram, or allow them as toddlers / young children to walk alongside with me; and now that my children are teenagers, I wait with bated breath that they will return home safe from a simple bike ride to the local shop.
PLEASE MR. RUDD – FIX FERRY ROAD BEFORE A FATALITY OCCURS!

Sadly this is becoming more the norm now and it’s not just congested at peak holiday times like Easter and Christmas!

We too have walked this road WITHOUT FOOTPATHS for 26yrs with the same trepidation for the ever increasing traffic. We started in our mid years enjoying walking in our locality when traffic was at least manageable, but now in our late 60’s traffic is far from manageable.
PLEASE MR RUDD MAKE OUR NEIGHBOURS AND VISITORS TO OUR BEAUTIFUL AREA SAFE TO ENJOY IT WITHOUT FEAR OF DEATH.

I often need to visit my mum’s property at no 46 and have found it impossible to re-enter Ferry Road from the driveway because of the queue and the blind entry. Waiting for the next ferry to leave so one can get out of one’s property seems a bit extreme.
Something must be done this time.

Easter Thursday evening – traffic backed up to Channel Highway with approx 10 vehicles stationary and waiting on the slip road leading off the Channel Hwy. Another 10 cars and the Channel Hwy will also be blocked for south going traffic!

Towards evening on the Thursday before Easter there was a long queue waiting for the ferry going almost up to the highway. I drove out of our driveway heading up to the highway and had to stop two or three times whilst other residents driving down from the highway (on the wrong side of the road – as this is the only way to get to houses on Ferry Road when there is a queue) had to pull into driveways to let me pass. I finally got to near the top only to almost run into the open door of a car parked in the queue. On the way home again, I had to drive on the wrong side of the road so that I could get to our driveway. This is really dangerous, particularly at night, and just unacceptable.
On a different occaision when there was no queue, I was walking one morning down to the local store. There is no footpath so I have to walk on a narrow dirt slope on the side of the road. Normally cars coming off the ferry can avoid me by driving over the white line in the middle of the road. However this time a car was coming down Ferry Rd towards the ferry so they couldn’t give me more room. I felt quite unsafe and quite vulnerable, having to stop walking and try to squeeze a bit further off the road, without falling into the ditch.
The road is far too narrow to be safe and we need a footpath!
